For lawyers and legal advisers, tech has become increasingly important, especially in recent years. The diversity of transactions conducted in the cyber environment, as well as the proliferation of concrete methods of conducting these transactions, are issues that need to be addressed by the legal profession: e-commerce law, where the legal relationships are different from those of traditional commerce, are dynamic; media law, where the liberalization of the market structure is becoming increasingly relevant; personal data protection law, an area regulated both through the General Data Protection Regulation – at European level – and through various international instruments – at global level.. The legal market in Romania and at European and international level has begun to address areas influenced by the evolution of technology. Thus, more and more law firms have created teams specialised in specific areas of cyber law.

Magistrates will benefit from the knowledge acquired through the Master’s courses entitled “Law of New Technologies“, having the opportunity to understand the legal aspects of an area that increasingly influences national and international law relations. This will enable them to understand the current state of technological development and the various ways in which technology influences legal relations. This knowledge is necessary and useful for the resolution of incidental claims within the jurisdiction of the courts in respect of actions with elements relevant to technological developments, as well as from the perspective of investigating offences carried out in the cyber environment with elements of foreignness. By way of example, in both the national and international environments, electronic crime committed in the cyber environment has become an increasingly common means of committing crime, often by persons with in-depth knowledge of the subject.

For academics and researchers, graduation from the Master’s programme will contribute to the establishment of a solid platform of specialised knowledge, enabling the study of particular aspects of new technologies law and the development of research in this essential field for society. The Master’s programme will also allow access to a vast documentation, represented by Romanian and foreign doctrine and case law.

Diplomatic staff may be confronted with issues specific to new technology law. In this context, the international law of new technologies, which influences international relations and the way international society responds to various threats at the normative level, is of particular importance.

For all categories of graduates, the fact that the programme is conducted in English, allowing for regional and international participation, encourages interactions between learners from different cultural backgrounds, which will enhance the interpersonal skills essential to the career of any lawyer involved in new technology law.
